What Information Can Court Staff Provide?

Cupid Kate is a courtroom clerk assigned to Division 3. She is dating a Deputy District Attorney, Jack, who frequently appears in Division 3. Jack usually comes to the courtroom before it is in session, and he and Kate often engage in flirtatious behavior. Sam, the Court Reporter for Division 3, thinks the behavior is unprofessional and offensive. He has asked Kate and Jack to do their smooching elsewhere several times. Ever since Sam complained to Kate and Jack, they have teased him about being a prude and revealed to others that he is gay.

How should Kate behave?

1. She should ignore the ignorant remarks made by Sam who is just jealous anyway.
2. She should behave professionally with her boyfriend and respect Sam's sexual preference and lifestyle.
3. She does not have to concern herself with office harassment of Sam, because the law does not protect gays or lesbians as it does other groups.
