What Information Can Court Staff Provide?

Court Z just entered the information age by installing personal computers on all the clerks' desks. All cases will now be input into the FACTS software system. Due to illness, clerk Vivian had to miss the initial FACTS training offered at the inception of the program. Vivian is computer illiterate and is intimidated by the computer. She has never used a word processor and is having a difficult time grasping the concepts needed to perform her daily tasks. She often pushes this part of the workload off on newer clerks who have more computer skills. This negatively affects the work performance of the unit.

What's the best solution?

1. Vivian's supervisor and coworkers should tell her to get off her duff and that they refuse to do any more of her work.
2. Vivian can request additional tasks that do not require computer skills until she receives the proper training.
